Stories on Stage

Unexpected adventures ensue ...

Unexpected adventures ensue when characters are unwilling to follow prescribed agendas, this week on Stories on Stage.   We share two stories from "Home and Away," a special live performance presented in collaboration with the Chicago Humanities Festival in 2005, at the Museum of Contemporary Art.  The program was directed by Michael E. Myers.

Bradley Armacost reads "Cinnamon Shops," by Bruno Schulz, a story in which a boy is sent out into the winter night to fetch his forgetful father's wallet, however the magical moonlit snow-filled landscape entices the boy into an alternate pursuit of adventure.

Si Osborne reads "Cloud, Castle, Lake," by Vladimir Nabokov, a tale set in the mid-1930s about a mild Russian bachelor, who wins a pleasure trip to the German countryside, which ultimately changes his life.
