Say the name Marshall Field and what springs to mind? The department store? Its iconic clock on State Street? Or maybe the display windows at Christmastime?

It’s also a name that has been passed on through generations of the Field family. Marshall Field V, the great-great grandson of the department store founder, visited the  StoryCorps booth at the Chicago Cultural Center with Angelique Power, the president of the Field Foundation. The 76-year-old Field reflected on his family’s history and told Power how he once wound up selling encyclopedias door-to-door under an assumed name.
