Ten years ago, Chad Hendry was living in Southern California, managing a construction company and finishing up a degree in architecture. It was around then he started using crystal meth, though he had always told himself he’d never get addicted to drugs, like his parents and other family members had.

At the StoryCorps booth at the Chicago Cultural Center, Hendry talked about how those close to him helped shape his journey to sobriety.
