Eve Richards always wanted to be a mom. But as she approached age 40, she didn’t have a partner and worried that her window for having a child was closing.

So she decided to get pregnant on her own.

Around this same time, she also met Brit Creelman on a dating website. Richards and Creelman visited the StoryCorps booth at the Chicago Cultural Center to reminisce about how they came together.

StoryCorps’ mission is to provide Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to share, record and preserve their stories. These excerpts, edited by WBEZ, present some of our favorites from the current visit, as well as from previous trips.
