Edward Kibblewhite grew up in the wake of World War Two in England. The area near his childhood boarding school had been heavily bombed.

Kibblewhite is an astronomer who moved here to work at the University of Chicago. But the memories of his childhood, and the destruction of war, remain with him. He recently visited the StoryCorps booth at the Chicago Cultural Center with his daughter, Jessica, who’s in her early thirties. She wanted to ask her father for advice about overcoming fear.
