Northwestern students Louis Oh and Danny Hwang are roommates and co-hosts of a music on the university’s radio station. They’re also some of the only Korean men in the school’s journalism program — and they share something else in common, too.

Between their freshman and sophomore years, Oh and Hwang took two years off to do required military service in Korea. Today, they’re back in Evanston as college sophomores. They recently came to the StoryCorps booth at the Chicago Cultural Center to talk about what it’s like to come back to campus, after serving in the military.
