Chicago author and filmmaker Amy Krouse Rosenthal died this week. She was 51.

Krouse Rosenthal was the author of beloved children’s books, books for adults and two memoirs. She also contributed to WBEZ as a blogger and host of The Writers’ Block Party, a literary and music variety show. She died of ovarian cancer just days after publishing a poignant and much-read essay in the New York Times called “You May Want to Marry My Husband.”

In this StoryCorps interview, recorded in July 2016, Krouse Rosenthal talks with her daughter, Paris, right after she learned that her cancer had returned.
