When Gabi Edgerton and Aaron Bloom asked to interview their father at StoryCorps he was proud but also apprehensive. Proud of his accomplishments as alderman for Chicago’s Fifth Ward, serving Hyde Park and part of South Shore from the late 1970s until the mid-1990s. Apprehensive because his reputation for honesty was upended by a conviction and time in federal prison that was traumatic for himself and for his children. Last month, Larry Bloom spoke with his children about the events that led him to prison.
