When Meredith Bailey was eight years old and her sister, Kayla, was 10, their mother died. Five years later, their father also passed away, and the sisters were left without parents. It was a trauma that brought them closer together.
Last year, Meredith moved to Chicago and turned 21. Kayla made the trip from Ohio for the special birthday, and they marked the occasion by visiting the StoryCorps booth in the Chicago Cultural Center to talk about the loss of their parents and their own special bond.
