Marc PoKempner is a photojournalist who has worked extensively with the Chicago Reader and People magazine.

But in the 1960s he was just a college student in Hyde Park, interested in photography and the blues.

StoryCorps producer Francesco De Salvatore interviewed PoKempner recently.

Marc Pokempner was interviewed through a partnership with the Maxwell Street Foundation.StoryCorps’ mission is to provide Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to share, record and preserve their stories.
