It’s no secret that turnout in last night’s election was bad. At around 34 percent, it was the second lowest for the city of Chicago. Less than 500,000 people voted in Chicago yesterday. And in places like Waukegan, voter turnout was seven percent. Today in Tech Shift, we’re talking about how the Knight Foundation is hoping to change that. The foundation has teamed up with a few other groups for its latest news challenge. The goal is to increase civic participation not just before, but during and after elections.
