It can mean a lot of different things to be working with data in Chicago. You could be at a big tech firm crunching millions of records, a small business tracking your mentions on social media, or a non-profit trying to measure your community impact.
How many ways are people doing this here in Chicago? That’s what The Smart Chicago Collaborative is trying to document the many different ways that people and organizations are using data in the city. From that grew the Chicago School of Data project and organizations began to send in information on how they use data as well as the gaps and needs that they experienced. Smart Chicago's Sonja Marziano talks about documenting Chicago's data community.
