Yesterday, Senator Dick Durbin invited people on Twitter to watch a civil rights hearing he convened because of recent protests in Ferguson, Missouri. The result, at least on Twitter, were groups that bombarded the Senator’s Twitter account with their own reports of civil rights abuse. They used the hashtags #Testify #ThisStopsToday and #OurHearing and tweeted directly to Senator Durbin. It was a call that was heard by Color of Change.org, which says it has more than one million members and calls itself the country’s largest online civil rights organization. We’re joined on the line by the group’s Executive Director, Rashad Robinson, as well as Robert McCaw, from the Washington office of the Council of American Islamic Relations.
