Tech Shift: 'Large Lots' program expanding in Chicago
In March, the city of Chicago approved a plan to sell vacant lots in Englewood for one dollar. Called Large Lots, the program received more than 400 applications. They hope to start responding and selling lots in September.
The success prompted the city to expand the program. This month applications opened in East Garfield Park. Residents have until Monday to go to LargeLots.org to find a property and apply.
So far more than half of the 413 lots have been applied for.
What does the program mean for the neighborhood? Alderman Walter Burnett of the 27th ward talks about how 'Large Lots' is growing in Chicago.
