Political Big Wigs Talk Trump, Immigration, Religion and More

What do you think you would you remember from a duck hunting trip with the chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court? How would you feel if you were compared to Donald Trump?

Those issues came up in two separate conversations with the governor of the nation’s most populous state, and the former ambassador of the most populous nation on Earth. Both tried for the White House.

Jon Huntsman served one term in the Utah statehouse before jetting off to Beijing as U.S. ambassador to China. He ran for the GOP nomination in 2012, and today Huntsman has a lot of concerns about his party’s message in the 2016 presidential race—especially when it comes to Donald Trump.

Governor Jerry Brown gave us a personal view of the challenges of dealing with western wildfires and global warming—two issues that he believes are related. Brown has served in the California statehouse longer than any other governor. And he once had ambitions for higher office—he ran for president in 1976, 1980, and 1992.
