There’s a battle being waged between rideshare companies and taxi affiliations. But recently proposed Chicago ordinances could impact them both. On this installment of the Barber Shop Show, we talked about what’s at stake. We also talked about the ways in which the rideshare industry has impacted residents of the south and west sides in particular. Host Richard Steele was joined by: • Odette Yousef, WBEZ North Side Bureau Reporter • Alderman Anthony Beale of the 9th Ward. • Crystal Abernathy of King Cab. Then, Richard was joined by the host of Practically Speaking on Vocalo, Audra Wilson. She previewed what will air on May 28th: a program called the Corner Store Campaign, working to bring healthier food options to communities that need it the most, and working to ease racial tensions between residents and shop owners. The Barber Shop Show airs live on Fridays at Noon on Vocalo 91.1FM. You can also stream live at vocalo.org. In addition, the show rebroadcasts on Saturdays at 9am on 91.1FM and on Sundays at 3pm on WBEZ 91.5FM
