On this installment of the Barber Shop Show, host Richard Steele got caught up with City Bureau, as well as the West Side Writing Project. They talked about their work in training a new crop of journalists. They also discussed the role of media in our communities. We were joined by: • Andrea Hart, education director of City Bureau • Frank Latin, editor and founder of West Side Writing Project, • Michael Key, a Free Spirit Media student who is part of the CB track one of journalists. Then, we checked in with Chicago Sun-Times urban affairs reporter Maudlyne Ihejirika. She told us about the stories that are on her radar, including the ongoing search for a new CPD Police Chief. The Barber Shop Show airs live on Fridays at Noon on Vocalo 91.1FM. You can also stream live at vocalo.org. In addition, the show rebroadcasts on Saturdays at 9am on 91.1FM and on Sundays at 3pm on WBEZ 91.5FM
