April is Jazz Appreciation Month, and to celebrate, host Richard Steele had an intergenerational discussion on the history of jazz in Chicago.
For thad discussion, we were joined by:
• pianist, composer, arranger and music educator Robert Irving III
• young saxophonist and composer Rajiv Halim
They also talked about the future of the music.
Plus, we heard Vocalo’s own Jesse Menendez in conversation with WBEZ’s Natalie Moore. They talked about the intersection of race and class in Chicago.
The Barber Shop Show airs live on Fridays at Noon on Vocalo 91.1FM. You can also stream live at vocalo.org. In addition, the show rebroadcasts on Saturdays at 9am on 91.1FM and on Sundays at 3pm on WBEZ 91.5FM
