The May 5th, 1966 issue of Jet Magazine featured an article about Private Milton Olive III. He was an 18-year old black Chicagoan who died saving members of his platoon. He was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. This Memorial Day weekend on the Barber Shop Show, host Richard Steele talked to veteran journalist Chinta Strausberg about the story of Private Milton Olive III. Later in the show, he discussed the legacy of entertainer and playwright Oscar Brown, Jr. with his daughters, Maggie and Africa Brown. Oscar Brown, Jr. will have a street named in has honor at 52nd and Harper on Saturday May 30th, 2015. The Barber Shop Show airs on Fridays and Saturdays at Noon on 90.7FM and 89.5FM.
