The Lathrop Homes are a CHA development located on Chicago’s North Side. Built in 1938, there’s a plan in place for Lathrop’s redevelopment. But as residents are being moved out, some say that the plans for redevelopment don’t include them. Host Richard Steele was joined by:
• J.L. Gross, current Lathrop Homes resident; chair of the Lathrop Leadership Team and Logan Square Neighborhood Alliance leader.
• Olga Molina, former Lathrop resident who keeps in touch with both current & former residents
• Rev. Liz Munoz, pastor of Nuestra Senora de las Americas, a Latino Episcopal church in Logan Square. She was one of 8 people arrested in March when they entered and occupied a vacant Lathrop row house.
Then we revisited the story of Black Poets Speak Out, a national movement merging poetry and activism.
