Chicagoan Matt Grevers wins men's 100-meter backstroke; takes part in bro love

Previous Next

USA men's swimming team member Matt Grevers just won the gold in 100 meter backstroke and broke the Olympic record for his event. But more importantly: the Lake Forest-born young man participated in the age-old custom known as "bro love", where two male atheletes embrace, preferably semi-nude, and celebrate their win. (See: "This Thing Looks Like That Thing: Adorable Olympic Swimmers vs. Hand-Holding Otters" on Jezebel.)

Grevers graduated from Northwestern University in 2007. This is his six gold medal; he also has six silver and six bonze.

Stunned, but can still give himself a pound.
Going in for the kill.
Caught in the moment with teammate Nick Thoman, who came in second.
Bro love from above.
