- ComedySportz turns 25 and Jason Heidemann takes a look at the ComedySportz World Championship, which starts a week from today. Their approach? A sort-of President George W. Bush way of life: “have a beer, laugh your butt off and have a good time,” says president Matt Elwell.

- Audition alerts: Lyric Opera is looking for both male and female dancers trained in classical ballet for Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg (“Dancers with a variety of body types are encouraged to attend”) and the Drama Group is looking for members to join Avenue Q (but not for pay). But be warned; “For those interested in puppet roles, please practice hand movements to mimic your mouth movements.” August 25 and August 6 and 7, respectively.
