1. Always… Patsy Cline is the first show of the year at Theatre at the Center, opening in previews February 23. It’s being directed by Brian Russell, who directed the 1996 Chicago premiere of the show at the Apollo. Heather Beck plays Patsy, a role she’s taken on before at other theaters in A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline. The play”is a tribute to Patsy Cline’s true friendship with Louise Seger, a fan from Houston”, and Seger will be played by Janelle Snow, who you’ve seen at the Goodman, Steppenwolf, and winning two Jeff awards.

2. A friendly reminder from ATC that Disgraced opens tonight at 7. It’s a small house, and it seems like they’re expecting a crowd. Listen to playwright Ayad Akhtar’s inteview on NPR with Terry Gross.

3. Stefon is coming to Chicago! No, that’s not even close to true, but there’s an interview with the co-creator of the popular SNL character, John Mulaney, in the Reader. Not only was Mulaney one of the few to live here and not take advantage of the comedy scene, he says that when he’s home, he doesn’t know where to go out and eat because he eats with his parents. He also has a Comedy Central special and a new album, so he’s not a total noob.

4. Columnist Neil Steinberg has written a scene from play where and he Brian Dennehy express excitement about The Iceman Cometh and the Sun-Times has published it. God, people will publish anything these days. (In actuality, it is quite charming.)

5. The latest in a series we’re calling Chicagoans Leave Chicago and See Theater in a Place That is Not Chicago brought Bob Bullen to London, where he saw Crazy for You and Ghost the Musical — and didn’t hate the latter!
