1. ComedySportz has started a new kids series show for Christmas. It’s called The ComedySportz Crew Saves Santa and it opens November 19. “The ComedySportz Crew has never been more excited! They are using the Imagination Machine to meet Santa Claus! But at the North Pole, Santa’s been kidnapped by the evil Expensivo. The crew must use their ComedySportz imaginations to save Santa and stop Expensivo!” Exclamation marks are for kids! Get your sit on Santa’s lap after the show - if you are a child.

2. Drury Lane Theatre is extending The Sound of Music through January 8, 2012. The production opens October 27.

3. MadKap Productions is premiering Clutter: The True Story of the Collyer Brothers Who Never Threw Anything Out at the Greenhouse Theater. It starts previews in January, and the play has an interesting background; it was written by Mark Saltzman, the man partially behind The Muppets and Sesame Street. It’s a ripped from the headlines, based-on-a-true story tale of the Collyer brothers who became horders in their 1920s Harlem mansion. Thursday evening performances will be followed by “talkback sessions” with psychologist Dr. Scott Kaplan, who will talk about hoarding and other issues. Free therapy — that’s a pretty good deal.

4. Porchlight’s By Popular Demand is back, in all its reality show-style competition glory. Performers include Jeremy Rill (Assassins), Christin Boulette (The King and I), Sarah Hayes (Ragtime), Jennifer Tjepkema (Candide), Lina Kernan (Company), Kate Garassino (Jeff-Nominated for The King and I), Elizabeth Lanza (Meet John Doe) and Gerald Richardson (Ragtime). They’ll be split into teams that literally sing-off, and then the audience votes with money that goes to Porchlight (it’s a fundraiser, alright?) for the final victor. It’s at Stage 773 on November 15, and tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door. Last year’s performance included Bethany Thomas, Jess Godwin, Rebecca Finnegan, Sean Effinger-Dean, Jayson Brooks, Lina Kernan, Joseph Tokartz, Nick Foster, Jeremy Rill and Ryan Lanning — but who won? I wasn’t there…

5. The Amish Project has been extended through October 30, 2011. Remember, it’s been doing pretty well.
