Fans of the Chicago Bulls and other NBA teams are still waiting for any sign of the opening tip off of the 2011-2012 season. 

On Monday, the league announced the cancelation of the first two weeks of games after owners and players failed to come to an agreement to end a league lockout. 

For months, both sides have been at odds over a range of issues, including a salary cap and distribution of revenues.

NBA fan Al Gini has been thinking about the labor dispute - its causes and its possible solutions. 

He’s a professor of business ethics and chair of the department of management at Loyola University Chicago. He is also the co-founder and associate editor of Business Ethics Quarterly, and the author of several books, including My Job, My Self and Seeking the Truth of Things: Confessions of a (catholic) Philosopher.

In his latest commentary, Gini says, when it comes to the NBA labor dispute, it’s time for the players to get back in the game:
