Richard Ward had prostate cancer nine years ago. He wanted to donate his tissue to his surgeon for research to help find a cure for the disease. Then he found himself in the center of a lawsuit. He’s upset the university where his doctor had worked filed suit to keep the tissue samples. “I think the university is probably more interested in money than patient care or listening to patients, frankly,” Ward says. “I think if they cared about the patients, they would have listened to what we wanted done with our tissue. It’s that simple to me.“
