Today is the 100th day of Rahm Emanuel as mayor of Chicago. Paul Green was on NPR this morning saying this is no longer Daley’s city…it’s now Rahm’s city. Really? Cause I thought it was my city. Later today, we will be releasing a comprehensive look at what Rahm promised to do in 100 days and what he actually did. It’s like a big, public performance review without the token raise.

And tomorrow, we bust out an awesome show at the Chicago History Museum featuring the mayor and his deputies answering questions about the state of the city.

B story: I’m sorry, I was on vacation for the last two weeks and missed this, but did I read that parts of Grant Park are closed til September due to the damage created from Lollapalooza? Yes, Lolla will pay for it, but in the meantime we don’t have access to our front yard? It would be one thing if this were November or March. But this is August. It’s really the only time we ever think of going to Grant Park. And Lolla ruined it.

C story: The Bears got blown out last night in New York. Actually, I thought they played pretty well. The O-line protected Cutler and gave him time to throw (even on seven step drops) and Cutler found Hester and Forte for big plays. The defense got beat for one touchdown after the Giants snuck in a big play on a 4th down. If this were a real game and we weren’t relying on scrubs to protect on punt coverages, we would have been down a TD at half. Against the Giants on the road? I’ll take it. Peppers played sparingly and dominated the Giants. Urlacher played two or three series. Briggs didn’t play at all.

One thing to watch though: Roy Williams dropped a few passes and didn’t catch anything thrown his way. He didn’t look any better than the receivers who couldn’t catch slant passes last year. Uh oh. It remains to be seen if Roy will be Mushin Muhammad or David Terrell.

Weather: The National Weather Service said today’s weather is the right weather for tornadoes. So if you hear sirens tonight, don’t act like it’s the beginning of a techno song and continue partying. Take it seriously. 

Sports: Cubs Manager Mike Quade benched Starlin Castro last night for loafing. Coach Quade: Kind of like your Dad. You know he’s not a real coach, but you have to listen to him.

Kicker: It’s set! CHIRP beat Gapers Block last night in the semi-final round of the media league softball league. So this Thursday, we will play CHIRP for the Kup cup.

I want to make a huge spectacle of the championship game. So I’m lining up a brass band, a singer for the national anthem, a public address announcer, and looking into a balloon arch and smoke machine for us to come onto to the field through. Any other ideas? Low/no budget ideas?
