Whether it’s strawberry basil infused s’mores or Cuban street food, going gourmet can be as complicated or as easy as you choose. Upcoming events this week focus on serving up gourmet food anywhere from on the street to in your own kitchen.

National S’more Day Sale

Although s’mores from a campfire may be a summer classic, Chicago-based artisanal chocolate and confections company Truffle Truffle‘s gourmet twist on the childhood favorite will please any sweet tooth. The company’s delicious homemade s’mores come in a variety of flavors, from chipotle peanut butter (marshmallows infused with dried chipotle and combined with homemade peanut butter sandwiched between two peanut butter cookies and covered in milk chocolate) to coconut key lime (marshmallows flavored with pure coconut extract and key lime juice sandwiched between graham shortbread cookies and covered in milk chocolate).

In honor of the National S’more Day on August 10, Truffle Truffle is taking 20 percent off all orders placed on the holiday, so your wallet and your stomach will both stay full.

The WAVE food cart at the W Hotel

Cuban Appetizers at WAVE’s Street Cart

Every Wednesday and Friday this month, the W Chicago’s WAVE restaurant will take its gourmet food to the streets via street cart. The cart will be outside the restaurant, which is located at 644 N. Lakeshore Drive, and will serve appetizers and a specialty drink from a different country every month. This month’s menu features Cuban cuisine, so start salivating for mini Cuban sandwiches, boniato and sweet plantain croquetas, yucca fries with toasted garlic mayo, guava and cheese empanadas and more. And if you can’t get enough of the cart after one visit, take note: after every five visits to the cart on your punch card, you’ll get one appetizer for free.
