The beginning of September brings us a variety of dinner specials, each of which is more than your simple prix-fixe menu. Here’s a look at four unique dinners you can enjoy this week.

The Gemini Burger, one of the choices on Gemini Bistro’s Prix Fixe Anniversary Menu

Gemini Bistro First Anniversary Menu and Art Exhibition Celebrate Gemini Bistro’s successful first year in business with a special $29.09 prix fixe menu. The three-course menu, which will be available from September 7-12, will allow diners to sample the Lincoln Park restaurant’s most popular dishes, from the baby beet salad with goat cheese to the roasted salmon with smoked bacon and coriander vinaigrette to the creme brulee with hazelnut biscotti. In addition to the culinary celebration, Gemini Bistro will be displaying the artwork of Kenyan representation painters David and Phyllipa Marrion from September 9-20. The restaurant, which is located at 2075 North Lincoln Ave, suggests making a reservation by phone at (773) 525-2522 or via the Open Table Link on their website to guarantee your table. Also, please note that Gemini Bistro will be closed on September 9 for a private celebration. Chicago TomatoFest Potluck Supper Share your favorite potluck dish while raising money to benefit a North Lawndale community garden at Chicago TomatoFest Potluck Supper. Bring your favorite appetizer, main course or dessert (incorporating tomatoes into the dish is optional) to the event, which will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Chicago Honey Co-op on 3740 West Fillmore. Enjoy a night of delicious food, organically grown wine from Candid Wines and beer and soft drinks donated by Goose Island Brewery, plus a tour of the apiary and a chance to harvest black eyed peas and crowder beans. Don’t forget to bring a chair, and if you grew tomatoes this summer, bring a few along labeled with your name, their variety and where they were grown. Tickets to this event are $10 for Slow Food members and Chicago Honey Co-op members plus a potluck dish, and $15 for non-members plus a potluck dish. Purchase your tickets for this event here.
