A look at a handful of Chicago Housing Authority properties to show how some have — or have not — been developed since the Plan for Transformation was announced in 1999.

Altgeld Gardens

  • 1,713 of 1,998 units were occupied on Oct. 1, 1999
  • The CHA initially promise to rehab 100 percent of occupied units and demolish 285
  • In 2016, the CHA invested $56 million for the rehabilitation of 218 units
  • Through September 2016, there are 1,971 units, 1,249 are occupied, 351 are vacant and 371 are offline

Bridgeport Apartments

  • 136 of 155 units were occupied on Oct. 1, 1999
  • The CHA initially promised to rehab 100 percent of the occupied units and demolish 19
  • Through September 2016, there are 129 units, 119 are occupied and 10 are offline

Cabrini-Green Rowhouses

  • 466 of 586 units were occupied on Oct. 1, 1999
  • The CHA initially promised to rehab 100 percent of the occupied units and demolish 120
  • 40 percent will be rehabbed as public housing as result of a legal settlement
  • Through September 2016, there are 584 units, 138 are occupied, 440 are vacant and 6 are offline

Cabrini-Green (non rowhouses)

  • 644 of 1,541 units were occupied on Oct. 1, 1999
  • The CHA initially promised to rehab 700 units
  • 1,523 units were demolished
  • Through September 2016, there were 470 units that have been developed

Dearborn Homes

  • 603 of 800 units were occupied on Oct. 1, 1999
  • The CHA initially promised to rehab 100 percent of the occupied units and demolish 197
  • Through September 2016, there are 668 units, 605 are occupied, 59 are vacant and 4 are offline

Ickes Homes

  • 823 of 1,006 units were occupied on Oct. 1, 1999
  • The CHA initially promised to rehab 100 percent of the occupied units and demolish 183
  • Began closing in 2007, last families left 2010
  • Promise to rehab 432, then 312
  • Finished demolition in 2010

In 2016, a development team was selected to develop the property as a mixed-income/mixed-use property

  • 0 redeveloped
  • The CHA now says there will be 244 units

Lake Parc Place

  • 235 of 300 units were occupied on Oct. 1, 1999
  • The CHA initially promise to rehab 100 percent of the occupied units and demolish 65
  • Through September 2016, there are 290 units, 253 are occupied, 27 are vacant and 10 are offline

Lathrop Homes

  • 747 of 925 units were occupied on Oct. 1, 1999
  • The CHA initially promised to rehab 100 percent of the occupied units and demolish 178
  • The new plan is to is deliver 400 units of public housing
  • Through September 2016,  there are 925 units, 142 are occupied, 777 are vacant and 6 are offline (unavailable for occupancy)

LeClaire Courts

  • 270 of 300 units were occupied on Oct. 1, 1999
  • The CHA initially promised to rehab 100 percent of occupied units and demolish 30
  • Demolition started in 2010 and is now complete
  • 0 units have been redeveloped

Lowden Homes

  • 115 of 128 units were occupied on Oct. 1, 1999
  • The CHA initially promised to rehab 100 percent of occupied units and demolish 13
  • Through September 2016, there are 127 units, 121 are occupied, 4 are vacant and 2 are offline

Oakwood Shores, Madden/Wells Homes

  • 1,426 of 2,891 units were occupied on Oct. 1, 1999
  • The CHA initially promised to rehab 1,008 of the units
  • 2,821 were demolished
  • Through September 2016, there were 277 units that have been developed

Robert Taylor / Legends

  • 1,559 of 3,784 units were occupied on Oct. 1., 1999
  • The CHA initially promised to rehab 251 units
  • 3,784 units were demolished
  • Through September 2016, 335 units have been rehabbed

Stateway Gardens/Park Boulevard

  • 689 of 1,644 units were occupied on Oct. 1, 1999
  • The CHA did not make a promise on what would be done with the buildings.
  • 1,644 units were demolished
  • Through September 2016, there were 164 units that have been developed

Trumbull Park Homes

  • 382 of 486 units were occupied on Oct. 1, 1999
  • The CHA initially promised to rehab 100 percent of occupied units and demolish 104
  • Through September 2016, there are 465 units, 416 are occupied, 37 are vacant and 12 are offline

Wentworth Gardens

  • 386 of 422 units were occupied on Oct. 1, 1999
  • The CHA initially promised to rehab 100 percent of the occupied units and demolish 36
  • Through September 2016, there are 343 units, 312 are occupied, 23 are vacant and 8 are offline

Westhaven Park/Horner Homes

  • 682 of 1,743 units were occupied on Oct. 1, 1999
  • The CHA initially promised to rehab 1,086 of the units
  • 1,201 were demolished
  • Through September 2016, there were 237 units that have been developed
