Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen says the team has reached a deal with free-agent pitcher Mark Buehrle. Buehrle pitched for Guillen last season with the Chicago White Sox. The 32-year-old lefty was 13-9 with a 3.59 ERA.

Buehrle is a South Side fan favorite based on his steady career with the team, including a World Series championship. This isn’t a surprise because GM Kenny Williams made it clear that the free agent pitcher would be difficult to re-sign. But I just didn’t buy it. Ozzie & Buehrle gone? No way.

This is a blow to the fans. And to WBEZ. Buehrle was one of the nicest interviews we ever had for our Wikipedia Files series, where we fact-check the Wikipedia pages of celebrities. We caught up with him a few days after he pitched a perfect game at U.S. Cellular Field.

We’ll miss you Mark.

The Marlins have been the busiest team at baseball’s winter meetings. Earlier this week they landed All-Star free agents Jose Reyes and Heath Bell.
