On Friday, Feb. 5 from 6-8 pm, ThePoisonCup will host “The Great Taste,” a monthly sampling of over 25 wines. Tickets cost $10 and you can call 773-935-1325 to register.

The restaurant formerly known as Chaise Lounge gets a facelift, but keeps its chef. The place debuts as the Southern tonight in Bucktown. Led by Georgia native and Executive Chef Cary Taylor, the Southern offers a menu of Southern comfort food and has a wide selection of small-batch bourbons, microbrews, plus whiskeys and specialty cocktails.

On Tuesday, Feb. 9, ChicaGourmet is hosting a six course prix-fixe sustainable seafood dinner at Oceanique in Evanston.

Dinner includes:

  • Ceviche of wild salmon with ginger lime and seaweed
  • Roasted Maryland oysters with saffron, white asparagus and sea beans
  • Mango-Lime Sorbet
  • Trap Net Lake Whitefish with beet greens, chanterelles and lemon grass
  • Warm pear puff pastry tarte with caramel ice cream

Oceanique Chef Mark Grosz partnered with experts from the Shedd Aquarium to create the dinner. Dinner begins with a reception at 6 p.m. and costs $85 for ChicaGourmet members and $95 for non-members and includes wine pairings. Reservations can be made online and must be made before Feb. 6.
