I don’t want to sound like Debbie Downer here, but c’mon, is Valentine’s Day really that important to score a table somewhere? Isn’t it technically a Hallmark Holiday? You would think it’s New Year’s Eve the way the publicists have been bombarding me the past two weeks, like TMZ on Tiger. Oh well, yours truly (with quite a bit of help from trusty intern Kathy) have compiled a list of a few places that still have tables (and hotel rooms) for you on the 12th-14th. Hope you get lucky:

Naha

Feb 14

Valentine’s day pastry platter and dessert special such as pithiviers and almond cream-filled puff pastry.

Cuna

Feb 14

5:30 - 6:30 pm: Three course, prix-fixe dinner with three glasses of wine ($75 per person). Menu includes sweet potato soup, baby beet salad, saffron seafood risotto, braised beef short ribs, roasted cobia and chocolate and cookies. Each course will be served with a a glass of wine.

8 - 9 pm: Four course, prix-fixe dinner with three glasses of wine ($85 per person). Dinner selection is the same as above in addition to Kushhi Oyster with cucumber sauce.

West Town Tavern

Feb 12-13: Five course prix-fixe menu ($75 per person). Selection includes lamb carpaccio, Carolina squab, bay scallops and chocolate tasting.

Feb 14: Three course prix-fixe menu ($119 per couple) featuring Big Eye tuna, Snake River short rib or 32-ounce grilled porterhouse.

Vermillion

Indian-Latin five course prix-fixe dinner with green cumin terrine, coconut butternut squashsoup, malabar crabcake, chimchurri mirch New York strip, and spiced nut cake($50 per person at 5pm and $60 for 7pm).

The Peninsula Chicago

The Lobby: Three-course prix-fixe menu plus Chocolate at the Pen, the hotel’s chocolate bar ($90/ person).

Avenues: Five-course tasting menu called Love Bites ($110 per person). An optional “Pretty in Pink” wine flight is also available ($60).

Cibo Matto

Feb 12 - 15

Four course tasting menu ($75). Includes‚ chilled Alaskan king crab, four cheese raviolo, grilled beef tenderolin and a chocolate tart. Also offers three “shareable” entrees, designed for two.

Osteria Via Stato

“Famous Italian Dinner Party” ($38.95) includes Pappardelle Three Meat Rag, Chicken Mario and Braised Beef Short Rib served family style.
