WBEZ to add new writers to blog network

We're pleased to announce that beginning next week, WBEZ.org will welcome four outstanding new bloggers to our team. These acclaimed Chicago writers will compliment the already stellar lineup that has been providing unique content for the site since its relaunch in November.

Okay - let's introduce the new bloggers. They will be starting in July.

Louisa Chu: Louisa Chu has been writing about food online for years. She's a seasoned vet in the food media business. She was one of the original food bloggers and has created a following with her popular Movable Feast site.  She also is a freelance field producer for Anthony Bourdain and was a writer for Gourmet magazine.  Fun fact: Louisa was a producer for Steve & Garry, and worked on the movie Titanic. Here is her on-camera segment with Anthony Bourdain for No Reservations

Claire Zulkey: This is a real coup for us. Talented writer, performer and friend Claire Zulkey is bringing her voice and web site to WBEZ. Claire is a creative force in Chicago, one who combines both writing and performance. She is a prolific blogger (and early adapter) and also writes reviews for the LA Times and AV Club.  But that's not all.  Claire is the creator of the literary humor performance series, Funny Ha-Ha and is a published author!

John R. Schmidt: John has been a busy blogger for the past few years at Chicago Now where his blog, Unknown Chicago, took readers through the history of this great town. Whether it's history of the day, history of neighborhoods or revealing unknown aspects of Chicago, John has quickly become one of the best bloggers in the Chicago media landscape. We are lucky to have him at WBEZ and, together with Lee Bey, will give our readers some serious historical value.

Mark Bazer: Mark was one of the first columnists at RedEye Chicago. He also hosts The Interview Show, the wildly popular monthly live talk show at The Hideout. Mark has been a contributor to Eight Forty-Eight and a blogger for Huffington Post.  He will bring his sharp wit and interviews to the WBEZ site.

This is just too good to be true. Please welcome your new WBEZ bloggers! I'm really excited about all four joining the great names we've already collected on the site.

Finally, as we make these new announcements, I also want to extend my gratitude and heartfelt best wishes to Steve Dolinsky, who is stepping down from our site.  Steve and I have worked together covering food for WBEZ for more than a decade, and his blog, Adventures in Urban Eating, was one of the first in our experiment to deliver on-line content to our WBEZ audience.  During the last year and a half, Steve added so much to our site - and to the Chicago's vibrant, ever-changing food community.  He will be missed.  In fact, I'm hoping to lure him back some point soon.  At least I still have your headshot at my cubicle.
