The Chicago History Museum is pleased to be the host site for the 2011 Annual Lincoln Colloquium. In recognition of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, the theme of this year’s colloquium is Lincoln and leadership.

The consortium—Indiana Historical Society, Lincoln Studies Center at Knox College, Allen County Public Library, Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, and Chicago History Museum—represent the states that claim Abraham Lincoln as a honored past resident. These institutions host the Lincoln Colloquium on a revolving basis. The Colloquium celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2010.

The day’s festivities will begin with a light breakfast at 8:30 AM, followed by a welcome at 9:00 AM and the morning’s speakers. A lunch will be included in the registration fee. Following the afternoon speakers, all participants will gather in a panel to answer questions from the audience.

The five speakers at this year’s Colloquium include: Bruce S. Allardice, Professor of History at South Suburban College and past president of the Northern Illinois Civil War Round Table and the Civil War Round Table of Chicago; Daniel W. Stowell, a Director the editor of The Papers of Abraham Lincoln; Stewart Winger, Associate Professor of History at Illinois State University; Matthew Holden, Jr., Wepner Distinguished Professor in Political Science at the University of Illinois Springfield; and Dr. Lawrence Lee Hewitt, author of Leadership During the Civil War.
