These days, everyone knows somebody hurt by the sagging economy. By February of this year, the Chicago metropolitan area had lost more than 126,000 jobs, compared to February last year. As part of our Hard Working project, we recently co-hosted an information coffeehouse about searching for work. It was held at the Jane Addams Hull House Museum on Chicago’s West Side. Some of those who attended stopped by a booth we’d set up, and agreed to share with us their stories of unemployment. Or, in the case of Nancey Epperson, underemployment.
