Cache, a black lab, is trained to detect a chemical used in digital-storage devices, like thumb drives and SD cards.

Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow said that when his team executes a search warrant looking for child porn, his team sometimes finds evidence that material was downloaded onto an external device.

“But we don’t have the thumb drive. We don’t have whatever other device they may have used,” he said.

Finding those devices could mean finding more files and filing more charges.

Cache is expected to arrive in a few weeks.
