A track and field Olympic athlete from suburban North Chicago will compete in tonight’s Olympic games in Rio. But he won’t be representing Team USA.

32-year-old Tyrone Smith will represent his birthplace, the island nation of Bermuda.

Michael T. Moore was Smith’s track coach in North Chicago back in the late 1990’s. He remembers Smith as a modest and laid back athlete with “spider-like” legs who specializes in the long jump.

This is Smith’s third trip to the Olympics.
