On Monday’s Afternoon Shift we talk about guns in the summer.

Long Hot Summer-Guns:  As part of our Long Hot Summer series, we look at the economics and legal infrastructure around guns. We’re joined by gun law expert Adam Winkler, Special Agent Thomas Ahern of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ Chicago Field Office and the Chicago Crime Lab’s Jens Ludwig.

Race:  In WBEZ’s latest installment of our summer-long series on RACE,  Natalie Moore reports on the racial divisions we see when it comes to the party/club scene in and around downtown Chicago.

Review Panel:  Red Eye’s Ernest Wilkins and Vocolo’s Molly Adams give their thoughts on Natalie’s RACE report, and hit up other big stories swirling around the newsscape today.

Joe Berrios:  We profile a man of firsts…first Hispanic to be elected to Illinois General Assembly, first Hispanic Chairman of Cook County Democratic Party, first Hispanic Cook County Assessor.  He’s also been under fire for employing family members in a variety of positions in and around the assessor’s office.
