Our main topic is the Illinois State Fair- now underway in Springfield. The 11-day fest is a chance for politicians to proselytize and promise, and a chance for downstaters to gather with friends and neighbors. Tuesday is Agriculture Day and farmers are out in full swing.
Our guests to talk about the fair include Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon and Chicago Sun-Times columnist Rich Miller.

We also check in with Illinois Farm Bureau President Philip Nelson to find out how farmers are coping with the drought. Here’s what Nelson had to say about Illinois agriculture back in February, when no one knew how dry things would get this year.
