20th Ward Chicago Alderman Willie Cochran was arraigned Friday on federal corruption charges. Cochran pleaded not guilty to charges he took money from his 20th Ward charity fund that was intended to help families in his South side ward. His attorney, Tom Durkin, said his client intends to fight the charges because he did nothing wrong. Speaking at the Dirksen Federal Courthouse following the arraignment, Durkin said there are holes in the government’s case and his client would not give up his seat in the City Council.
