A woman who said she witnessed the shooting of Laquan McDonald is claiming in a federal lawsuit that officers pressured her to change her story.

Alma Benitez said she was in a nearby Burger King on the night of the shooting in 2014. She said she was trying to use her phone to record and claims officers demanded she give the phone to them. She said cops then took her to a police station and held her for six hours without legal justification. There, she claimed, officers pressured her to retract or forget what she told them she had seen.

A spokesman for the city’s Law Department said officials can’t comment on pending litigation.
