American RadioWorks up in Minneapolis does a bang up job every year producing radio documentaries. This season is no exception. I’m really excited to bring these to you in our Sunday Specials slot at 9 p.m. I am especially excited for After the Projects, airing on Sunday, October 26. Chicago’s Ida B. Wells, Dearborn Homes and other public housing areas in Chicago are profiled. Check out this great audio slide show with Michael Whitehead, a former Ida B. Wells resident. You’ll hear stories from the people who live there and some from those who were able to move on.

blog_sarggrayThis Sunday night at 9, What Killed Sergeant Gray looks at how Post-traumatic Stress Disorder affects soldiers who have participated in torture. This powerful doc follows members of a U.S. Army unit and their struggle to come to terms with what they did, and didn’t do, in Iraq.

On Nov 2, we look back at the dramatic 1968 DNC with Campaign ‘68. That year, Richard Nixon was elected president and a new era of Republican conservatism was born. Campaign ‘68 will reveal how the events and consequences of 1968 help us better understand the 2008 race. And, don’t forget to catch up on other stories from Chicagoans in our series, Memories from the 1968 DNC. Know about a great program that we might want to air? Let us know! Leave a comment and tell us what you’ve been listening to.
