The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Casey Sullivan is a meteorologist. He said it’ll be sunny, but windy.

“That sunshine is going to help the low levels of the atmosphere mix deeply and that should bring down some fairly strong winds,” Sullivan said.

Sullivan said the Chicago region could see even stronger winds than yesterday. He said gusts could get up to 60 miles per hour.

Meantime, ComEd is bracing for the high wind to knock down power lines.

Alicia Zatkowski is a spokeswoman for the company. She says 3,500 people are still without power, mostly in Chicago’s northern and western suburbs. But that number could go up.

“We’re already seeing small increases in the number of customers without power and we do expect those numbers to increase throughout the day,” Zatkowski said.

Zatkowski said ComEd has restored power to 200-thousand customers since the bad weather started.

Yesterday, the National Weather Service confirmed three tornadoes touched down in the area.
