Chicago author St. Sukie de la Croix discusses his new book, Chicago Whispers: A History of LGBT Chicago Before Stonewall. Chicago Whispers illuminates a colorful and vibrant record of Chicago’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people from the city’s beginnings in the 1670s as a fur-trading post to the end of the 1960s. Drawing on years of archival research and personal interviews, de la Croix recalls Chicago’s LGBT past that has been forgotten, suppressed, or overlooked until now.

This event is cosponsored by the Chicago Public Library Pride Month Committee.

Recorded Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Harold Washington Library Center.
