Author Series: Nikki Giovanni

World renowned poet, writer, educator and activist Nikki Giovanni discusses her life work. Ms. Giovanni is the 2007 recipient of The Chicago Public Library Foundation's Carl Sandburg Literary Award for lifetime achievement.
The Carl Sandburg Literary Award in presented annually in recognition of a significant body of work that has enhanced the public's awareness of the written word and reflects the Chicago Public Library's commitment to the freedom to read, to learn and to discover.  Giovanni is the first poet to be given the award. Giovanni is currently a Distinguished Professor of English at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
