Ben Weasel... on Last Call with Carson Daly?
Though longtime fans will debate whether Screeching Weasel is really still Screeching Weasel without John "Jughead" Pierson in the band, no one will deny that the group not only is one of the finest as well as the longest-running punk bands that Chicago has ever produced, but it's been one of the most influential in the U.S. in general throughout the last two decades, inspiring myriad pop-punk groups that have followed in its snotty but tuneful wake.
The irascible Ben "Weasel" Foster and the group have been getting some long, long overdue attention of late--not that I didn't do my part in the past, with this 2001 feature in SPIN magazine--with a recent high-profile show in California lovingly previewed by lifelong fan (and Chicago area native) Todd Martens on the Los Angeles Times' Pop & Hiss Blog.
Even more amazing: On Tuesday night, Last Call with Carson Daly ran a feature on Foster/Weasel focusing on his infamous battle with agoraphobia, an affliction the host apparently has had some experience with. (Who knew?) Here is the clip.
And, for good measure, here's some live Weasel from the Congress Theatre in 2009.
