Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich’s re-trial is scheduled to start this week. Both U.S. prosecutors and Blagojevich’s team of attorneys have re-worked their arguments. For starters, prosecutors condensed some of the charges in an effort to make their case simpler for jurors to understand. After the first trial, jurors said the details were difficult to sort out given the wide-ranging scope of the trial.

Prosecutors also dropped all charges against Blagojevich’s co-defendant from the first trial. Jurors were pretty evenly split on those charges against the former governor’s brother, Robert Blagojevich.

Meantime, Rod Blagojevich’s defense attorneys are working with a lighter staff, given that he couldn’t afford to keep a lot of his old legal team around.

Blagojevich himself has kept a lower profile this time compared to the months leading up to his first trial when Blagojevich appeared on commercials and a reality TV show.

Round two for the former governor is scheduled to start Wednesday.
