The Chicago Bulls begin their regular season Wednesday in Oklahoma City. The Bulls are starting fresh after a disappointing playoff run last season.

“It’s going to take a while to gel, too, because you have a new coach, new system, they’re running a new offense,” said Cheryl Raye Stout, who covers sports for WBEZ. Even Bulls’ forward Luol Deng acknowledges the team hasn’t fully come together in practice.

“We’re not there yet,” Deng said. “I think we’re ready for the season to start, but as good as we want to be, I think it’s going to take time.”

The Bulls lost in the first round of the playoffs last season and then missed out on signing free agent superstars LeBron James and Dwayne Wade. The team did sign all star forward Carlos Boozer, but he’s out with an injury that could keep him sidelined for the next month. The Bulls’ home opener is Saturday night against the Detroit Pistons.
