Caterpillar Says It's Complying With Law Enforcement Following Raid
Former federal prosecutors saida raid at Caterpillar’s headquarters in Peoria this week indicates that suspected wrong-doing there goes beyond typical corporate misdeeds. That’s because feds usually think they can trust big companies to just cough up whatever evidence they ask for. The theory goes that it’s better for the company in the long run to comply. If a few individuals get nailed for something, or there’s a fine, that’s better than… a raid, the publicity that goes with it, and penalties for a cover-up. A Caterpillar statement issued yesterday says the heavy-equipment manufacturer is complying with law enforcement.
